B.M.A. AND HEALTH SCHEME OF AUSTRALIA
HOBART, Feb. 22 The State Minister of Health, Dr Turnbull, said that it was equally the fault of the British Medical Association and the Commonwealth that the people of Australia were not voreiveing free pharmaceutical benefits. “Both parties are behaving like naughty children,” he added. They are hurling abuse and blaming each othei 1 , instead of getting together and finding a solution. Unfortunately the British Medical Association. is ruled by conservative specialists, just as other unions are ruled by their radical element. „ “Because of the preponderance of members in New South Wa es, the rest, of Australia has practically to do what the New South Wales branch desires This branch is ultra-con-servative and its secretary cannot, resaving ‘no’ to any proposition put up by the Government. This is especially unfortunate for Tasmania, where the doctors are, on the whole, prepared to co-operate in the pharmaceutical benefit scheme.
