OFF-COURSE BETTING EMPLOYEES WILL BE UNIONISED
P.A. AUCKLAND ranisr, SI. Should the referendum next month result in the establishment of _ offcourse betting facilities, it is likely that steps will b e taken to bring the employees of the totalisator agencies into the Theatrical and Places of Amusement Employees’ Union.
The Auckland union has carried a i resolution supporting the proposal for off the course betting facilities. Tiie secretary, Mr-W. T. Quealy, said to-day that the unions’ opinion is that all such betting should bo handled by office or agency employees working under trades union conditions and that the full amount of taxation from the business should reach the Government.
