Australia’s Plan of Superannuation
CANBERRA, Feb. 19. The Federal Government has shelved its plans for a national superannuation scheme because of the excessive cost, it was officially stated after the Prime Minister (Mr J. B. Chifley) had studied a long report on the scheme, which showed that to finance it would mean a tax of about lOd in the £ on all incomes. No details of the scheme were announced. but it is known that it was designed to provide pensions for everybody on retirement.
