TROTTING Buller Trials
On Saturday, at Westport, pacing exhibitions resulted as follows: — One and a-quarter miles. 2.59 class —J. E. Roche’s Therese (owner) 1; F. Scott’s Gizera (E. Hollis) 2:. J. E. and J. R. Higgins’ Red Queen (J. Higgins) 3. Also started: Mauchline (Mason), First Shot (J. Hazeldine), Welcome Lady (White), Royal Bar (Mclntyre) Loyal Anthem (H. Roberts). Gizera and First Shot led over the first quarter, when Therese ran up on the outside of Gizera. These two fought it out to a close finish, with Red Queen in third place. Time 2.52. One mile.—M. Durkin’s Penno s Pride (Penno) 1; J. Corby’s Tusitala (J. Corby) 2. P. Ryan’s filly Logan Fraser-Real Rita) (PI. Robertsf 3Also started: Melody Bar (C. Walsh) Mr Rvan’s filly led the field by ten lengths, with three furlongs to go. Then she broke and Penno’s Pride took over and went on to win* easily from Tusitala, who was finishing on with the other two a long way back. Time 2.31. One and three-quarter miles.— F. Scott’s Gizera (E. Hollis» ±; J. E. and J. R- Higgins’ Red Queen (J. Higgins) 2;J. Mclntvre and S. Craddock’s Royal Bar 3. Also started. — Penno’s Pride (J. Penno). Loyal Anthem (H. Roberts), Welcome Lady (White), Mauchline (Mason), First Shot (J. Hazeldine), and Therese (J. Roche) who failed to .leave the mark. Gizera led throughout, but Red Queen challenged. These two fought out a great finish, with the others well out of the contest. Time 2.53.
