EAST-WEST TRADE PROPOSAL IN EUROPE
(N.Z.P.A.—REUTER CABLE) (Rec. 6.40). GENEVA, Feb. 19. Britain, the United States. Russia and twenty-two Eastern and Western European countries have agreed on a cautious programme for the expansion of East-West trade in Europe. The main point was a decision to trv and draw up a list of goods which are most lacking in trade between East and West. This will be presented to the Eastern countries at a meeting in Geneva in May. Thev will be asked to what extent, with Western help, they can boost their production of food and other raw materials to meet Western needs. PAKISTAN-CZECH TREATY (N ZP ■ A.—REUTER C A BLE) (Pec. 5.30). KARACHI, Feb. 20. It is officially announced . that Pakistan and Yugoslavia have signed a trade agreement. Yugoslavia will supply railway sleepers, cement, asbestos roofing, maize, and chemicals. I Pakistan will send raw jute, cotton, and other commodities.
