RAILWAY DISASTER IN FRANCE KILLS 34

(Rec. 9.10) PARIS, Feb. 20 Thirty-four people were killed and 150 were injured when a Metz-Dijon express collided with a single loco- < motive, near Vesoul, late on Friday night. The first two express coaches were hurled off the line, and twenty persons were pinned beneath the wreckage. They could not be moved until heavy rescue gear arrived. A search for the bodies among the debris is continuing. A student engineer was driving the locomotive which collided with the express. He has been arrested.
