BOY DROWNED WHILE GIRL MAKES RESCUE

P.A. AUCKLAND, February 20. Norman Taylor, aged eight, of Bayswater, was drowned on Saturday afternoon whilst bathing at Bayswater. He was playing with six other children, who also got into difficulties. An onlooker, Patricia Pridham, aged 13, who is a good swimmer, pluckily rescued three of the children, but she was unable to reach the boy before he went under the surface. After the girl had raised an alarm, the boy’s father located his son’s body.
