NAKED THEATRICAL WOMEN—PARIS TAXATION QUESTION
PARIS, Feb. 17
How many naked women are necessary to establish the difference between a music hall show and an operetta? This question was gravely debated by a Paris Court to-day. Last year the “A.8.C.,” theatre staged a show called “Revue de Rire.” It was taxed more than 1.000,000 francs (£9so') as a music hall show. The theatre contended that the show was really an operetta which would cut the tax by half. The Inland Revenue authorities answered that a naked woman posed in one scene and the production was therefore a music hall show. The theatre retorted that in the wellknown French operetta, “King Pausole.” there was a scene figuring eight naked women.
