BULLER MILK BOARD

At last night’s meeting of the Buller District Milk'Board, applications for treating, delivery and' carriage oi milk, licenses for milk shops and milk bars were dealt with The members of the board are. —Messrs C. treasurer). The chairman (Mr C. H. Thomas) said they must be satisfied that th? r ® was an" adequate supply of high standard milk for the whole year. The board had full power to gram, suspend or revoke licenses. Suppliers would have to be kept up to their nominated quantities for_ the full year. Any person who nad been refused a license had the right to appeal within 14 days to a Magistrate s Court. . . The board was the milk authority for the district. Licenses could only be obtained from the board, Attached to .the board are Mr F. Coleman (senior inspector of the Health Department) and Mr Payne (senior inspector of the Agriculture Department), both of Christchurch, and Mr A. E. Knight, who is the board’s inspector. When dealing with the applications for milk shop licenses, Mr Coleman said that such licenses must comply with the health regulations, and where loose milk is sold for consumption off the premises the milk must not be stored or handled in the shop contiguous to vegetables. A separate compartment must be used for the milk. Everybody that milk was easily contaminated, and it was not in the best interests of the producer, retailer, or consumer if it was not kept free from contamination. The board meets again On Monday, March 7.
