Mr and Mrs W. Bell, Cobden, leave by to-day’s express for Dunedin.

Corporal and Mrs J. Young are at present on a short visit to Greymouth.

Mr P. J. O’Callaghan is at present visiting friends in Greymouth.

Mr D. J. O’Neill superintendent of Police at Christchurch has received notice of his transfer to Wellington. His successor will be Superintendent J. Bruce Young, of Wellington.

Mr H. Williamson has arrived from Invercargill to take up his duties as district Rehabilitation Officer at Greymouth. He will replace Mr T. Shaw, who left yesterday for Nelson.

Mr Lincoln Efford has been appointed secretary of the Canterbury District Council of the Workers’ Educational Association. The former secretary, Mr G. Manning, has now resigned to take up an appointment as tutor-organiser in adult education in the Christchrurch metropolitan area.

To mark the coming of age of their eldest son, Trevor, Mr and Mrs W. H. Neville entertained a large gathering of relatives and friends at Harker’s Lounge on Thursday evening. The toast of the guest of the evening was pronosed by his godfather, Mr F. J. O’Callaghan, of Christchurch, and that of Mr and Mrs Neville by Mr W. A Mann, of Reefton. Mr Neville presented his son with the traditional gold key. Mr J. Young was master of ceremonies, and during the evening items were given by Misses Ula Drummond and Betty Essex. Mr Reg. Buchanan was the pianist, and was assisted by Mr J. Stokes with the drums. Extras were supplied by Miss Drummond and Mr Pat Eadie.
