MILLERTON NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent).
Mr Barnhill, of Wellington, has returned home after a holiday _ here. Mrs Barnhill and child are visiting Millerton at present. Mrs J. Kelly, of Greymouth, has been here on a visit.
Mr J. Jackson has returned from Palmerston North. Mr G. Orman (Buller delegate on the Miners’ National Council) visited Greymouth last week-end. Hon. W. A. Mclntyre is visiting Wellington. The touring Australian bowlers, were disappointed on visiting here last week when the weather prevented their playing a number of local rinks.
There was a large attendance at the local swimming carnival last week, including swimmers and visitors from Westport, Denniston, and Stockton. The races were keenly contested, prominent competitors being Messrs Barry and O’Brien (Westport), and Dr. Peart (Granity). After the carnival the swimming club held a largely atttended dance at the Picture Hall, with Mr G. Plummer as M.C. and with the music of Mr A. Mclntyre’s Orchestra.
