FULL SALARY FOR NURSES WHO GET T.B.
NEW PLYMOUTH, Feb. 16
The Taranaki Hospital Board has announced that it will pay full salary and not the £1 a week compensation allowance to nurses contracting tuberculosis while in the board’s employ. This is in accord with proposals legalised by the Hospital Employment Regulations, which provide that nurses contracting tuberculosis in the course of employment with the Hospital Board shall be entitled to cover under the Workers’ Compensation Act.
Ic now means that 25 per cent, of the salary will be met by the board, and the balance from compensation funds.
Foi’ periods in excess of three months full salary will be paid the nurse for as long as she receives institutional treatment, and for B(ny further time complying with the requirements of her medical adviser.
