SCHOOL CHILDREN NOT AS BAD AS PAINTED

DUNEDIN, February 16. In his opinion the children of the present generation were not as bad as many people made them out to be. said Mr W. G. Aldridge, principal of the King Edward Technical College, at a board of Governors meeting. Many people were worried about to-dayjs children, but, while it was true that they had slipped four or five years ago, the disruption caused by the war and national service of parents and the best teachers, was the chief contributing factor. During 1944-45 the slackening tendency had been most noticeable. In the past three years there had been a decided improvement in children’s behaviour and, said Mr Aldridge, he had every faith in the present-day school child.
