There was a- large gathering of children yesterday at the Greymouth Municipal Baths for the annual swimming competitions of the primary schools of the West Coast. Twenty-five Coached At Grey Baths Last Evening Five members of the Grey Amateur Swimming Club were last evening on duty at the Municipal Baths. They were Miss H. Smith, Messrs R. Lovell, P. Affleck, J. Cassidy and H. McClymont. Each coach had three pupils at a time, some of the learners travelling long distances to take advantage of the instruction offering. Eleven new club members were signed on and the attendance as on the past few club nights was large. The instruction is available to adults as well as children, and several middle aged people, who a few weeks ago could not swim a stroke, are now becoming accomplished swimmers. Presentation to Miss H. Smith Occasion was taken to make a presentation to Miss H. Smith, who leaves at the week-end for Auckland where she will take part in the National swimming championships.
