Berlin Mayor Says Ice is Broken with British
(Rec. 9.0) LONDON, Feb. 15. The Lord Mayor of Berlin, Ernst Reuter who has just returned from a visit to London and Paris, told the City Council that Mr Ernest Bevin intends to visit Berlin within the next few months. Dr Reuter told councillors that the ice between the British and- Germans had at last been broken. An understanding between France and Germany is the heart of the European problem, he said. The will for such an understanding exists, not only with us, but with the Frencn Government. _ , ~ ~ Dr Reuter said Mr Bevin told him that a decision on the Berlin currency would shortly be reached. Berlin's claim to be included as a twelfth State in the West German Federation was not likely to be recognised in the immediate future.
