JEWISH REFUSAL TO RETREAT TO OLD POSITIONS

(Rec. 8.30) LONDON, Oct. 29 The Israeli Prime Minister, Mr David Ben Gurion reiterated in Tel Aviv that the Israeli forces would never retreat to the positions they held on October 14 before the Negev fighting started. He added: “Israeli troops are still ready to meet further attempts by the Egyptians to break this area. It is the last clash Israeli will have with Egypt.” Hostilities flared up on the central Palestine front to-day and lively fighting spread to Jenin, said a United Nations headquarters spokesman at Haifa.

The spokesman said the fighting was continuing and the United Nations observers were trying to establish who started hostilities.

(Rec. 10.10). LONDON, October 29. The correspondent of the Associated Press at Tel Aviv says: The Israeli State Council has approved of an official Israeli flair, namely, two blue stripes on a white background, on each side of a blue Star of David.
