Mr and Mrs A. M. Jamieson left yesterday for Ashburton, where the death has occurred of Mrs Jamieson s father, Mr Arthur Cates.
Mr and Mrs G. VVilliams, of Palmerston North, are visiting Mrs Williams, brother, Mr C. G. McKechnie, Ida Street, Greymouth.
Colonel Sir Hugh Acland has relinquished, the appointment. of Assistant Director of Medical Services, Southern ' Military District (part-time basis), and has been replaced by Colonel D. G. Radclffe, according to the Gazette.
The University of New Zealand announces that the following degrees have been conferred.-—Doctor of Science (University of Otago) John Cairney. Master of Science (Canterbury University College) John Bruce Hair, with second. class honours in botany (1934 examination); Bachelor of Commerce (Auckland University) John Laurence Sullivan; Bachelor of Agriculture (Massey Agricultural College) Ajit Kumar Mitter; Bachelor of Engineering (Canterbury University College) Henry William Walter (civil) with honours; Jack Lionel Woodward (Electrical); Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (University of Otago) Lawrence Henry Brett. —P.A.
