MILLERTON NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent). Mr. and Mrs. R. Adam and Mrs. G. Adam of Christchurch, have been spending a few days with friends here.

Mr. A. and Mrs. R. Stewart, of Christchurch, were visitors at the week-end.

Mrs. Everett of Wellington, is here on a visit to her parents. Constable and Mrs. Peggie, formerly of Greymouth, spent the weekend at Millerton.

Mr. Holmes, another Greymouth visitor, is spending a holiday in Millerton. , A social was held in the Rechabite Hall last Saturday night by the Soccer Association, there being a presentation of medals by Hon. W. H. Mclntyre to last season’s Millerton and Ngakawau combined schoolboys’ team, winners of the A Grade South Island Schoolboys’ Championship. The players were also presented with photographs of the team by Mr. J. Bligh (District Secretary) and Mr. T. Beverland. Mr. C. Orman, the coach, ,was presented with a medal and photograph. Speakers included Messrs Mclntyre, Bligh, Orman and Beverland (Millerton), and Neilson and A. McArthur (Ngakawau). The Women’s Bowling Club opened the season, last Saturday and the Men’s Club on Sunday. . The greens were not in good condition owing to wet weather, but the attendances were good, promising a successful season.
