13 German Commanders Acquitted by U.S. War Crimes Tribunal

THREE CONVICTED LONDON, Oct. 27 The American War Crimes Tribunal to-day acquitted thirteen of Germany’s top commanders of plotting to launch a second world war. It found Field-Marshal von Leeb guilty of committing war crimes against humanity in Nazi territory. Field-Marshal Sperrle, who organised the bombing of London in 1940, was found not guilty of all charges against him. His immediate release was ordered. Field-Marshal Goerg Keuchler and General Hermann Hoth were found guilty of war crimes against humanity and will be sentenced tomorrow. The court stated that Keuchler and Hoth knew of mass executions of insane persons and Jews by Himmler’s extermination squads in territories under their command.
