(Received October 28, 8.15 p.m.) GUATEMALA CITY, Oct. 21

The Guatemalan Government announced to-day that Britain has rG' jected a proposal for United States mediation in the Anglo-Gualtemalau dispute over the possession of Belize, British Honduras. The Guatemalan Government has issued a statement as follows: —"In view of the impossibility of harmonising the points of view on terms for submitting the dispute to the International Court of Justice, Guatemala has given evidence of its goodwill by proposing to Britain the mediation of a friendly state. The British Government has rejected mediation by the United States. Besides showing again the British Government’s intransigence and lack of goodwill, to consider Guatemala, s rights, this action is unjust,” said the statement which directed the attention of world opinion to Britain s new refusal to settle the dispute amicably.
