OBITUARY

Mrs. Maria Coadwell The death occurred yesterday in Greymouth of Mrs Maria Coadwe'll, of 28, Marlborough Street. She had been ill for some time. Born 85 years ago in Coalville, Leistershire, England, she came to New Zealand aftei - spending a few years in Australia. The late Mrs Coadwell. who had been a resident of the West Coast for the last. 40 years, was a Salvation Army officei’ in England during her youth. She is survived by one son, John (Greymouth), and one sister, Mrs Marsh (England). The funeral will leave the Salvation Army Citadel to-morrow afternoon for the Karoro Cemetery.

Mr. George Harcourt

An old resident of Hokitika, in the person of Mr George Hodgson Harcourt, died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs W. G. Lynch. 203 Revell Street, Hokitika, yesterday, after a short illness, at the age of 84 years. The late Mr Harcourt was well-known in his youth for his keen interest in boxing, and other sports, as well as in music. .For many years, he had been engaged in gold mining at Humphrey’s and sawmilling, but for the past 14 years he had been blind. When his wife predeceased him three years ago, he came to reside in Hokitika. The late Mr Harcourt leaves two daughters. Mrs Lynch and Mrs S B Washer (Christchurch), and two sons Messrs William Harcourt (Wellington), and Leslie Harcourt (Greymouth). He also leaves a brother, Mr B. M. Harcourt, of Linwood, Christchurch. The funeral takes place at the Hokitika Cemetery tomorrow afternoon.
