Children’s Fancy Dress Ball

The Dobson Hall was a gay and colourful rendezvous for the children’s plain and fancy dress ball last Saturday. Children from all parts of the district spent a thoroughly enjoyable night. The judges, Mr. and Mrs. Penman, had a difficult task in selecting the prize-winners. Results were as follows:— Five years and under: Original, Garry V/ick (Mountie); Fancy, Jeanette Quinn (Queen of Hearts); Cheapest, Pauline Thurston (Doll). ,*79 t? eight years: Maureen McPhie (Skier); Betty Rutherford (Gypsy); Lindsay Gill (Food for Britain). Eight to 12: Lance Bell and partner (Doctor and Nurse); Arthur Mooney (Pirate); Betty Hunter (Injured Footballer). Twelve to 13: Volmarie Dunn (Grandmother); Bobby Hunter (Chinaman). Mrs. J. Rutherford received a special prize as the mother with the most children in fancy dress. During the evening the children contributed several items, Miss M. Waters being the accompaniste.
