CHINESE GIVE UP CHEEFOO TO COMMUNISTS
(Rec. 11.40) HONG KONG, Oct. 18 The Chinese Communist radio has claimed the capture of Cheefo. A Shanghai newspaper, “Shun Pao” said that a Government evacuation of military and civilians from Cheefo was completed on Saturday, when the last detachment of Nationalist troops sailed for Hulutao. The paper said that almost the entire civilian population of the port totalling 104 thousand, were evacuated with the army.
