GOLF Senior Championship Won by A.K. Smith

In the final of the senior men’s championship at. Kaiata during the week-end, A. K. Smith defeated L. Rhodes, six and five, ovex* 36 holes. C. Harrison defeated J. C. C’orbishley, five and four in the junior men’s final, and in the senior women’s championship, Mrs H. H. Hooper defeated Mrs J. W. Hannan, 3 and 2. The final of the Omoto Cup (handicap match play) competition resulted in Mrs Hooper defeating Mrs F. G. Wilkins 3 and 1. WOMEN’S MATCHES The mid-monthly medal mhtch on Saturday was won by Mrs Hooper 83-9-74. Other scores were: Miss M. Taaffe 93-18-75 and Mrs J. Robertson 93-15-78. In the junior division Miss J. Munsort 96-19-77 was the winner.

The senior ringer competition was won by Mrs Hooper and the junior by Miss J. Munson. The following plavers will compete in a medal match on handicap to-morrow for Mrs W. Meldrum’s consolation trophy (if wet, to be played on Thursday): Mrs Lambert and Mrs Wallis; Mrs Ryan and Mrs Read; Mrs Heaphy and Mrs McKay; Mrs Gilbert and Miss Kells; Mrs Taylor and Mrs Kitchingham; Mrs Orbell and Mrs K. Smith; Miss Moore and Mrs Logan; Mrs Patton and Mrs Chibnail. The following week-end players will play the above match on either Saturday or Sunday next: Mrs McCarthy, Mrs Mardon, Mrs Francis, Misses McKnight, Deere, Hambleton, and Hay-Mackenzie. Players to arrange their own scorers. Reductions in handicaps are as follows: Miss Taaffe from IS to 1c and Mrs Mardon from 23 to 22. MELBOURNE, October 11. Douglas Bachli (Victoria) putted his way to a convincing win, 7 and 6 to play, over Peter Heard (New South Wales) in the final of the Australian amateur golf championship. ”
