THE TURF GRAND NATIONAL HURDLES MAY GO TO CORINEUS

Baiiinagh Islington Fancy After his forward showing in the Jumpers’ Flat, Corineus appears likely to carry on the sequence established by Bramble Song and Boolamskee, in winning the Jumpers Flat on Steeplechase day and following this up with the Grand National Hurdles. An extra strong held will go to the barrier to-day in the Grand National Hurdles, and Corineus has a big task ahead, of him to carry 11.9 to victory. However, he is the ideal type for such an occasion, his stamina being undoubted, while he has the size and conformation of a class jumper. Nothing finished better than Boolamskee in his engagement last week. Had he got a clear run over the last fifty yards, he may have made the task of those that beat him much, harder. A pair who were doing their best work at the right end last Saturday were Tremello and Desert Trek. The former has 23 pounds less to carry to-day, and no doubt he would benefit by the outing. Skywriter, which will be bracketed with Pimlico, has his share of admirers, but it is doubtful if he is seasoned enough for such an ordeal. Nothing has schooled better than Foxchase during the week, though 11.3 may stop him, as ne is not a big horse. If the ground snould be heavy, it would improve his prospects. Of the remainder, Diamond King and Foreign Ways make most appeal, especially the latter, which gave a smooth performance to take the Trial Hurdles on the opening day. Perhaps most opposition to the topweight may come from Boolamskee and Tremello. Baiiinagh promises to be the elect of backers in the Islington Handicap, principal flat race on the day’s card. The Balioch gelding was rather unlucky in the Panama Handicap, as he aid not get .clear until the race was all but over, and then was only beaten in a photo finish. Royal Tan proved by his Winter Cup placm.g that he was back to his best again, and he should also race well ore:? the ten furlong journey. Althougn Broie and Aganev were not sighted in the same race, they will find the size of the field in this race more in their favour, • whle the journey will also suit both.
