ITALY’S NEW PARLIAMENT ELECTS HOUSE PRESIDENTS
(Rec 10.0) LONDON, May V. The Italian Parliament, under the new Republican constitution, opened exactly 100 years after the establishment on May 5, 1848, of the first Piedmontese Parliament, 1 from which sprang united Italy, says the associated Rome correspondent. The Senate elected the former Prime Minister Signor Ivanoe Eonomi as its president. The Chamber of Deputies elected the Christian Democrat, Signor Gronchi as its president.
