Mrs J. B. Kent arrived on Saturday from Dunedin. Mr and Mrs W. Green returned from Du'neain on Saturday. Miss E. Frost of Christchurch, is at present visiting her mother at Hokitika. Mr and Mrs W. Methven, whe have been visitin ~ South Westland, returned yesterday. Mr P. Blanchfield, who has been attending the Labour Party coherence m Dunedin, returned to Greymouth. on Saturday. . Mr Warren Freer. M.P. for Mt Albert, will arrive to-morrow afternoon and will address meetings of Labour youth in Greymouth and Runanga. Mr J. B. Kent, M.P. who has been attending the Labour Party conference at Dunedin, will return to Greymouth to-morrow. The funeral of Mrs Mildred Alice Haste .was held on Friday afternoon. Services at the Holy Trinity Church and at the graveside were conducted by Rev. H. Jamieson, of Ahaura. Passengers on Saturday’s express for Christchurch included: Mr A. J. Boucher, Mrs I. McMillan, Miss R. Muir, Mr I. Curtis (all for Christchurch), Mrs A. Johnston (for Dunedin) and Mr H. Westwood (for Wellington). 1 '

The chief clerk of the Public W’orks Department, Greymouth, Mr J. A. Shannon, retired on Friday after' 40 years’ service. For 17 years he had been in Greymouth. A presentation was made by the district resident engineer, Mr A. B. Bremner, and congratulations were proffered by ofher departmental officials.
