REEFTON HOSTEL NOT LIMITED TO IMMIGRANT MINERS

WELLINGTON, April 23 Referring to-night to the increase in the coal output, Hon. A. McLagan, Minister of Mines, mentioned the new hostel at Reefton. The Minister said that he had been reported fas having said, at Reefton, that accommodation in the hostel would be available to local residents other than mine workers. What he actually said was that accommodation would not oe confined to mine workers brought nere from overseas, and that portion of it would oe available to local mine workers who would not be able to obtain other suitable accommodation. The coal output for March showed an increase of 24401 tons, compared with output in March 194 f, stated the Minister of Mines Hon. A. McLagan, to-night.
