EXCELSIORS BEAT ST MARY’S

The senior game was one-sided, E. G. Walker, Excelsior skipper, jazzed his way through the opposing team to score a try in the first few minutes. St. Mary’s could not score. Their points came from a penalty goal by A. Gibson. The winners’ score could, possibly, have been greater, with more exertion, but there was a succession of tries obtained by them throughout the game, which they won by 26 to 3. In the junior match played at Cass Square, A. Wallace, Excelsior full back, gave a good display. At one period St. Mary’s held Excelsiors hard on their goal line. In fact, St. Mary’s backs were in full swing for a try, when Wallace sped up, took a pass from one of St. Mary’s backs, and raced the length of the field to score a good try. which earned applause from all, Marden convertBoth teams showed the value of coaching, and the return match will be worth seeing. Mr S. Tuhuru controlled the game.
