Mrs G. Brady, of Christchurch, and formerly of Nine Mile, is at present on a holiday visit to the West Coast.

Mr D. S. Kennedy, engineer to the Greymouth Harbour Board, has returned from a visit to Nelson and Wanganui.

The funeral of the late Mrs Julia Heffernan took place at Karoro Cemetery on Saturday, following Requiem Mass at St. Patrick’s Church, which was celebrated by Rt. Rev. Monsignor J. Long, assisted by the Rev. Fathers McCarthy, Leonard and Flaherty. Monsignor Long also conducted the service at the graveside, assisted by Rev. Father Flaherty.

Mrs E. F. Evans, who will leave Greymouth shortly to reside at Hamilton, was . entertained recently at a live o’clock party by the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs F. A, Kitching'ham. Among those present were women who have been closely associated with Mrs Evans, in her work with various organisations during her seven years’ residence at Greymouth. Warm tributes were paid to Mrs Evans’ work, and appreciation was expressed of her services, which had been so freely given. All wished her well in her new home.

The death has occurred at Reefton Hospital following a long illness, of Mr John Henry Hill, aged 65 years. Mr Hill was born at Goulburn, New South Wales, but come to New Zealand 45 years ago, working in the mines in the Reefton district. He had resided at Black’ Point for many years. He is survived by his wife, three duaghters, Mesdames J. -Bolitho (Black’s Point), Prestney (Rangiriri) and J. Robinson (Glenorchy); three sons, Charles (Collingwood), Jack (Pukemiro) and Alfred (Reefton). He also leaves eight sisters and two brothers in Australia. The funeral took place at Reefton yesterday.

The death occurred yesterday of one of the pioneer residents of Greymouth, Mrs Ellen Keeney, of Munro Street, Cobden. Born over 80 years ago at Drumshambo, in County Leitrim Ireland she came in her teens to New Zealand. She was married in 1886 at Greymouth, and, with her husband, engaged in farming at Cobden on the area where ’the Government houses of Holland Settlement are now located. For some years they conducted the Trafalgar Hotel, in Greymouth, and later the Thistle inn Hoiei for 14 years at Wellington. Before returning, 23 years ago, to her former home at Cobden, the late Mrs Keeney resided for some years -in Auckland. Predecased by her husband, she leaves three sons; Patrick (Auckland); and James and Michael (Cobden). The funeral will take place at Karoro Cemetery folloiving Requiem Mass tomorrow morning.

The death has occurred at Greymouth, after a brief illness, of Mrs Maude Wilson, wife of Mr Laurie Wilson, of the Commercial Hotel, Greymouth. Born at Queenstown, she was 59 years of age, and had resided on the West Coast for the past 47 years. With her former husband the late Thomas Milligan, the late Mrs Wilson conducted the Gilmer Hotel and the Commercial Hotel during the past 22 years. Of a retiring, yet kindly disposition, the late Mrs Wilson was also known for her many charitable acts. She was also a great Labour supporter in the early days of the party’s uphill struggle. She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Mrs W. K. Reynolds, Mrs J. Devonport and Mis's Dorothy Milligan, all of Greymouth; also by her mother, Mrs C. McGurk, of Cobden, and one sister, Mrs F. Higgins, of Cobden. The funeral will leave the Commercial Hotel to-morrow morning for the Karoro Cemetery.
