POWER FOR DAIRYING
WELLINGTON, June 26. Expressing grave concern on behalf of the dairy industry at the continued shortage of electric power, the annual conference of the Dairy Federation asked its executive to bring before the urgent attention of the Government the serious threat to the quality of dairy produce through power cuts on farms and factories.
The conference decided further to call on the Government to stop immediately the extension of industrial uses of electricity, except in cases of urgent national importance, until the needs of existing users have been adequately catered for. These decisions were proposed in a remit from the Federation of Taranaki Co-operative Dairy Factories.
