JAVA WARFARE MAY BE RESUMED

(Rec. 7.30). BATAVIA, June 27. Dr Sjahrir has resigned as the Republican Prime Minister. His decision came after the Left Wing political group, including Sjahrir’s own Socialist Party, reaffirmed a previous resolution rejecting Sjahrir’s concessions to the Dutch in the political crisis. The Nationalist Party also rejected Sjahrir’s concessions, in line with all the main Republican parties. Dr Soekarno, after accepting Dr Sjahrir’s resignation, assumed full Government powers. Indonesian sources indicated that Dr Soekarno would reject further compromises with the Netherlands. Neutral observers say the fall of the moderate Sjahrir Cabinet means an almost certain rupture in negotiations wih the Netherlands', with militant action as a probable consequence. (Rec. 9.30). LONDON, June ?7. The fall of the Sjahrir Cabinet is not expected radically to alter the Republican policy in the negotiations with the Dutch, says the A.A.P. Reuter’s correspondent. Dr Sjahrir, in an interview, said he expected the effect of his resignation to be only of psychological importance on tne crisis. He said he w r ould take another portfolio in a new Ministry. Dr Soekarno’s reply to a Dutch aidememoire asking for a final answer to the Federal Interim Government’s’ proposals will be flown to Batavia today.
