SLUMP WARNING IN AUSTRALIA
ADELAIDE, June 27.
A warning regarding the nature of the impending economic recession, which, lie said, he hoped would not be as bad as that of 1930-31, was given by the Prime Minister, Mr Chifley, during a talk to Labour Party members and trade union leaders.
He said that the inflationary trends in certain countries, particularly France, America and China, would undoubtedly produce a reduction in the present high export prices. He believed that Australia was geared economically to withstand a slump on the 1930-31 scale.
