VANCOUVER, May 23. New Zealand’s Trade Commissioner, Mr J. A. Malcolm, addressing a foreign trade conference, urged an increased volume of trade between Canada and New Zealand. There was little hope of balanced trdde with Canada. Nevertheless he believed much could be done to lessen the gap between New Zealand’s imports from Canada and exports to Canada. Mr Malcolm defending New Zealand's external trade control system said that: “While not satisfying all • our traders the system has acted as a buffer against reckless importing at inflated nrice at a time when care should be taken to avoid being swamped with unnecessary articles, which might affect oui’ stabilisation plans.”
