NEW STATE FLATS IN AUCKLAND ALMOST READY

Sixteen of the 45 units in the Symonds Street blocks of State flats are expected to be ready for occupation next week. All but one of the flats nearing completion are in the new block Interior finishing work in the blocks has been continually delayed by the shortage of -plaster but it is hpoed to have the whole project ready for tenants within a month. No list of rentals for the new flats has yet been announced by the State Advances Corporation. Police are watching the premises at night and during the week-ends to prevent an invasion by squatters. One of the first flats to be occupied will be he caretaker’s in the front block. The whole of the four blocks of State flats in Grey’s Avenue should be finished within two or three months. There are 50 flats in these first blocks of the Grey’s Avenue project and it is expected all will be finished simultaneously.
