There is an anti-cyclone centred over the south-east of Australia. It extends to New Zealand. There is a weak, cold front moving north-east over the South Island. Forecast to 5 p.m. on Thursday: Moderate, variable winds. Weather improving from the south, and becoming fair. Temperatures cool. Further outlook Scattered rain, chieflly in the south.
