[Our Own Correspondent.] Plans for the erection or a molten canning factory in Hokitika navi been completed by Messrs Irving and Stevenson and Co., Ltd. The ne. factory, which will be constructed o crick, will adjoin the film’s presen premises in Beach street. Proviso nas been made for the instaliauo. of the most modern canning equip ment in the new building. An inspection of the motorist.camping round at the Hokitika race course, was made last week by the visiting committee of the Canter bury Automobile Association, accompanied by the local representative u> the association, Mr D. Friedlander The committee expressed satisfaction with conditions generally. The ground was clean and tidy, and the huts, bunk, matresses, gas and electrical amenities were all in firstclass order. The committee will commend any improvements i’ thinks necessary, and will also in vestigate complaints.

Il was reported that the secretary bad been unsuccessful in its efforts to obtain the services of a resident nurse, as at present, there were insufficient nurses to maintain existing services. Thanks were accorded the Transport Committee for organising a ball to assist the funds of the local branch, and to all who had contributed throughout the year.

The m.v. Gael was scheduled to sail for Wellington at 10 a.m. yesterday, but was delayed because ol heavy' seas an the bar. It was expected last night that the vessel would sail at 10.30 a.m. to-day.
