Viceroy Proposes Another Parley at London with Indians
(Rec. 9.55). LONDON, May 20. The Daily Mail’s political correspondent says 1 : Mr Attlee is considering a proposal by Viscount Mountbatten that, instead of his meeting Indian leaders at Delhi on June 2, as at present arranged, the Indian leaders should be summoned to London for a round-table conference, at which a final effort would be made to reach some understanding or agreement with the British Government. Mr Attlee will not finally decide on this proposal until after a special Cabinet meeting is held next Thursday, which Viscount Mountbatten will attend”.
