Crown Lands

At the Nelson Land Board’s meeting, there were present Messrs D. N. Webb (Chairman), J. O’Regah, G. L Mead, J. Ward and C. P. Reilly. Under Section 144 of the Land Act, 1524, H. A. Roberts was granted renewable lease for 66 years over Part 3, Block XV., Maruia S.D., area 105 ac. 2rds., at capital value of £llO, annual rent £4 Bs, weighted with £l4O for improvements payable in cash as to £2O, and balance by statutory declaration. OL. 1938 as at May 13, 1947, was cancelled. M. Cosgrove was granted a year-to-year grazing license over Section 19, Elock 11, Ngakawau S.D., 85 ac. at annual rent of £1 2s 6d from May 14.

Buller County Council was given permission to arrange for an area in Waitakere with the timber permitee. Left in the hands of the Commissioner were applications by H. Cain for sections in Block 11, Kawatiri of 112 and 193 acres; C. Thomas for 50 acres in Blocks 4 and 5; and J. W. Stuart, 40 acres, Block 3.

Hydro Coal Mines Ltd., had its permit for 50 acres, Misc. Block 15, M'okihiuui extended one year—to December 9 next,

Transfers approved were: —Lynda G. Bruce, Sec. 816, 1 rd. to J. Rattray (Denniston) in town of Westport; R. J. Gospodenitch, Sec. 1097, 24 pchs., ditto to P. P. Hawker; Sect. 101, Westport Colliery Reserve, 6030 per J. Kilkenny, to Hannah E. Raffle.

Transfers adjourned ware:--Secs. 53, 54, and 55 (36.19 pchs), Westport Colliery Reserve, W. D. Gadd to O. P. Burke (Christchurch); Sect. 145 Westport Colliery Reserve, (16.67 pchs.) Public Trust to Maud M. Raffle (Burnett’s Face), Sect. 1037, West port Colliery Reserve, 32 pchs., S. Wheatley to D. J. Fountaine. It was decided to cancel O.L. 788, Seddonville (lrd. 3pchs), the Board being prepared to grant a year-to-year license to the licensee of the Seddonville Hotel at an annual rental of 15s.

Surrender of PL. 552, Section 18, Block 11, Ohika S.D., 44ac. by Charles and Edward Walsh was accepted. The Board also dealt with seventeen items in committee.
