Hockey
There was a good attendance at Kilkenny Park on Sunday afternoon for hockey matches. The weather was perfect, and the ground in excellent order. Results were: —
Ngakawau ladies beat Marsden B by one to nil. It was an excellent game, with a lot of thrills. For the winners, Mesdames Dawe, Murray and Chester played fine games, ably supported by Misses N. Murray and L. Robbins. For the losers, Mesdames Colvin and Ryan were very prominent, while two younger players, Misses Stubbs and Seaton, showed a lot of promise with a number of dashing runs.
Westport men defeated Seddonville by 3to nil. Westport always had the edge on the country team. Frank Fox was in excellent form to notch the winners’ three goals. At Millerton, Marsden A ladies beat Rangers by live to nil. For the winners, Miss E. Colvin was at her best, securing three goals, whilst Mesdames E. Kearns and A. Stollery also shone, securing a goal each. The Rangers men’s team defeated Westport A by three to nil, outclassing the town players.
