In Prague, Czechoslovakia gained a 2/1 lead against Switzerland in the second round of the Davis Cup, when Drobny and C’ernik (Czechoslovakia) beat Spitzer and Pfaffe (Switzerland) 6/1, 6/2, 6/3. France won the second round tie against India in Faris 3/0. Bernard Polizza (France) beat Misra Mehta (India) 6/3, 6/3, 6/3. In Brussels Washer (Belgium) beat Shaffei (Egypt) 6/2, 2/6, 6/0, 7/5; and Geehand (Belgium) beat Najar (Egypt) 4/6, 6/3, 0/6, 6/3, 6/2.

At Prague Czechoslovakia beat Switzerland by 4 to 1. Gernik (Czechoslovakia) beat Huonder (Switzerland) 6/3, 6/3, 6/4. Drobny (Czechoslovakia) beat Spitzer (Switzerland) 6/2, 6/1, 6/2. At Brussels, Belgium qualified for the third round when Andre Lacroix and Philippe Washer (Belgium) beat Mamout Talaat and Marcel Goen (Egypt) 6/4, 6/1, 6/3.
