Rocket Range Secrets in Central Australia
ADELAIDE, May 19. _ A complete township foi’ 600 families will be flown into the rocket range area to house the personnel. Included in the plans are a school and other amenities. The houses will be prefabricated in timber in Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth. The site of the township has not been revealed.
A construction unit of the R.A.A.F. will move into the range area almost "immediately to build an aerodrome and hangars. These will be com,'pleted within three months. Light aircraft are already landing on the ■airstrip and have taken in some "equipment. 1'• Because of developments in the design of rocket bombs, elaborate launching apparatus will not be necessary as new modifications allow the rockets to take off without a powerful back thrust at ground level.
