The' Prime Minister, Nokrashy Pasha, replying to Mr. Bevin’s statement that Britain would not appease Egypt at the expense of the Sudan, said: “The continued presence of British troops in Egypt infringes the sovereignty of our free and independent nation. The British Government knows that the maintenance of troops in Egypt is against the people’s will. We earnestly demand that the troops’ withdrawal will not be dependent on the revision of the 1936 treaty, which was concluded under special circumstances which no longer exist. “Britain \n the Sudan has pursued a policy of encouraging the Sudanese to secede from Egypt.
