Cobden Croquet Club Closes successful Season

The Cobden Croquet Club held its closing day on Thursday last. Conditions' for play were ideal, and there was a full attendance of members. The afternoon opened with competitions on the green, Mrs Ramage winning the Clock Golf and Mesdames higgins and Ramage the “Croquet in the Rain.” After afternoon tea had been) served, the president (Mrs Higgins). referred to the successful season, and expressed thanks to all who had assisted throughout the year. She paid special tribute to the work of the club captain (Mrs Haglund). Regret was expressed at the impending departure of Mrs Gamble, an active member, who leaves shortly for Blenheim, and on behalf of the members, the president presented her with a token of the club’s esteem. The club captain then presented the trophies won during the year as follows: — Championship Cup (Mrs Brown’s trophy), Mrs Higgins; Runner-up (Saunders Button), Mrs Ramage; ’glund Cup', Mrs East wood: Silver Button, Mrs McKechnie; Championship Bars, Mr W. Gunn. The return to the green was openpened with a treasure hunt, Mrs Stokes being successful, the Circle competition was won by Mrs Ramage ,and the final competition (hitting the peg) by Mrs Higgins, this closing a most successful and enjoyable season.
