SOCIAL AND DANCE TENDERED TO RESIDENTS OF OTIRA

A pleasant social and dance was tendered to Mr and Mrs W. D. Fraser in the Social Hall, Otira, on Tuesday evening. Mr and Mrs Fraser are leaving the district after 22 years’ residence. Dpring the course of the function many items were given, among them being: Sword and skipping dance, by Mrs S. Crowe; harmonica solo, Mr. Toon; elocution, Mrs Cleave; pianoforte solo, Mrs. Baxter, and songs by Miss Luke and Mr Fraser.'

After supper had been served, the presentation of a well-filled envelope of notes was made to the guests by Mesdames Benfell and Whitiski.

Mr Fraser, on behalf of his wife, thanked the people of Otira for the gift and related to them the happy times they had spent in residence there.

Music for the dance was supplied by Mrs Rosewarne and Mr Daniels, and the duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr Benfell. The singing of Auld Lang Syne brought to a close one of the most enjoyable social functions held in Otira for some time.
