ELEVEN KILLED IN R.A.E. AIRCRAFT DISASTER IN INDIA
COLOMBO, March 19. An R.A.F. York passenger aircraft bound from England to Singapore, crashed soon after taking off from the Negambo airport, killing four of the five members of the crew and seven of the nine passengers aboard.
All three survivors are badlj r injured. The passengers were naval personnel and civilians. The pilot was among those killed.
Reuters correspondent at Colombo says that when the aircraft developed engine trouble, the pilot headed towards the sea. The aircraft crashed on a coconut plantation two miles from the airport and then burst into flames.
