Millerton Notes

Mr W. Purdy, of Dobson, addressed a stop-work meeting of the Millerton miners, which was held recently. Mrs G. Palmer and child have arrived at Millerton after visiting Wellington.

Thirty-six member of the Millerton Tennis Club made the journey to Karamea on Sunday to play the Karamea tennis club.

Members of the Millerton Bowling Club are playing their local competition rinks during the fine spell of weather. T. Calder and F. Fox were successful in winning the final of the pairs. Six rinks of the Westport Women’s Bowling Club will be visiting Millerton on April 1 to play the local bowlers. This match should create some interest as the women bowlers are reported to have a good understanding of the game. Six rinks of the Blaketown Bowling Club visited Millerton to play a number of rinks. The visiting players spoke very highly of the excellent state of the green.

The teachers of the Millerton School have taken full advantage of the fine weather in having the school children at the swimming baths. According to a report 95 per cent, of the children have learned to swim during that period.
