Marine Disputes To be Heard by Two Tribunals
WELLINGTON, March 19. The MimS'ter of Labour, Mr McLagan, announced to-day his intention to set up two tribunals under the Strikes and Lockout Emergency Regulations, one to consider and settle a dispute dealing with the rates to be paid to members of the crew of the lug Toia for work done in rendering assistance to the Karepo at the time of the mishap to that vessel, and the second to deal with the dispute between ships 1 ’ carpenters and their employers over the rates of pay and conditions.
The tribunals are being established on the usual condition that the decision in each case will be accepted without question by all parties to the dispute.
