KUMARA NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent). Mr T. E. Y. Soddon, of Wellington paid a visit to Kumara on Thursday last. Mr and Mrs J. Birss have returned to Invercargill after visiting Mr and Mrs A. H. Birss. Kumara.
Mr R. Anichich has left to take up a position in Canterbury. Prior to his departure he was farewelled by the local cricket club and presented with a silver cigarette case.
The annual picnic of the Women’s Institute was held at Lake Ranieri last week and proved a very enjoyable outing.
Messrs Gerhard and Ernest Rudkin have left to take up positions in Wellington. Mrs J. Holmes leaves by to-day’s express on a visit to her son in New Plymouth.
Ex-Captain W. J. Benyon is representing the Kumara Volunteer Fire Brigade at the United Fire Brigades’ Conference in Auckland. The secre* (ary, Mr W. J. McNabb, of Kumara, will represent the Ross Brigade at the conference. Mrs Johnston, of Lumsden, is visiting her daughter, Mrs Don Brown. On March 31 the well-known milk delivery firm, known as Passmore's will cease delivery of milk. For over 60 years, seven days a week, in all weathers, this firm faithfully served their numerous customers, and when they cease delivery it will be a distinct loss to the community. The St. Patrick’s picnic was held at Arahura Valley last Sunday, and was well attended. Several large lorry loads of citizens made the journey and all report a very enjoyable outing.
