INDO-CHINA REBELS HOPE TO CUT PAINTER
NEW YORK, March 10.
It is evident, that the French position in Indo-China has suffered a grim deterioration, says the New York Times correspondent in a dispatch from Bangkok. He says l , the fugitive Vietnam Government of President Hochiminh has its only direct contact with the outside world at Bangkok. Vietnamese now declare openly for the first time, he says, that their membership in the French Union is considered merely a step towards complete independence. Vietnamese representatives in Bangkok, who are in daily-radio contact with the Hochiminh Government, are now saying that France is too weak, both militarily and economically, to play the proper role in Indo- China, and that Vietnam must look to stronger nations for the technical aid to achieve mature nationhood.
